We are pleased to inform you that the Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, warmly welcomed the new batch of MLIS students for the academic year 2026–2027 through a vibrant summer-themed Fresher’s Welcome Function held on September 16, 2026, at 10:30 AM.
The celebration was organized by the 3rd Semester MLIS students, who created a lively and welcoming atmosphere for the newcomers, marking the beginning of their academic journey in the Department. Prof. S. Thanuskodi, Head of the Department, formally welcomed and addressed the newly joined students. He encouraged them to actively participate in academic activities, departmental events, and various opportunities available at the University. He also emphasized the importance of active engagement, learning, and interaction with faculty members and fellow students. The programme then featured a series of fun and interactive activities, providing an opportunity for the newly joined students to interact with their seniors and get acquainted with one another. The celebration continued with a variety of cultural performances, where students showcased their talents through music, dance, and other creative presentations.
The event was well managed by the 3rd Semester MLIS students. Ms. Anugu Tejaswini served as the compere and coordinated the proceedings of the programme. She also proposed the formal Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Head of the Department, faculty members, senior students, organizers, and all participants for their valuable support and enthusiastic participation. The Fresher’s Welcome Function concluded on a cheerful note, leaving the newly joined students with memorable experiences and a warm sense of belonging to the Department of Library and Information Science.
