We are delighted to share with you that the Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu organized a Teachers’ Day Celebration on September 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Smart Classroom. The programme was organized by the MLIS students and Research Scholars under the Student Activity Club of DLIS, CUTN, as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation towards the faculty members.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by R. S. Joshith, MLIS First Semester student, who extended warm greetings to the Head of the Department and faculty members. This was followed by the Presidential Address by the Head of the Department, Prof. S. Thanuskodi, who highlighted the significant role of teachers in guiding students and shaping their academic and professional development. As a gesture of respect and gratitude, the students felicitated the faculty members by presenting shawls. The felicitation was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony, which was attended by faculty members and students. A cultural programme was also organized as part of the celebration. Dr. Anila Sulochana, Assistant Professor, presented a song, which was warmly appreciated by the gathering. The faculty members were subsequently invited to share their thoughts, experiences, and wishes on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. They reflected on their professional experiences and journeys in the Library and Information Science profession, offering valuable insights, encouragement, and inspiration to the students.
The event was efficiently coordinated by the MLIS students, with Anugu Tejaswini serving as the compere and skillfully guiding the proceedings. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Navya K. P., MLIS Third Semester student, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Head of the Department, faculty members, and fellow students for their participation, guidance, and support in making the Teachers’ Day celebration a memorable and successful occasion.
