Mr. R. Vijayakumar invited as Guest Lecture@VHN Senthikumara Nadar College, Virudhunagar

Dear All,

This is to inform you that Mr. R. Vijayakumar, first year MLIS student of Department of Library and Information Science, CUTN has been invited as a Guest Lecture to deliver a lecture on "Career Guidance and Awareness on Government Policies in India" in Awareness Program on Career Opportunities organised by VHN Senthikumara Nadar College, Virudhunagar on 11th March, 2021. 

In his lecture, he stressed upon importance of education among youths and highlighted Indian Education System. He explained the New Education Policy and its benefit for school and college level, the scholarships rendered by the Government for the welfare of students, E-learning and ICT usage in Indian education sector etc. Further, he made aware the audience on OER, Career Awareness, Vocational Courses, Internships, Entrepreneurship and other Initiatives. For the student's progress, he suggested to focus on six D’s i.e. Desire, Determination, Discipline, Devotion, Dedication and Destiny.

Misconduct in Education and Research: Challenges and Perspectives

This is to inform you that Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu has organised a special online lecture series Anveshan: Online Lecture Series in LIS for Research Scholars. The second online lecture in the series was organised on 11th March, 2021 (Thursday) at 3:00 PM through Google Meet. Dr. Manorama Tripathi, University Librarian, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central Library, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi has been invited as resource person and she delivered the talk on "Misconduct in Education and Research: Challenges and Perspectives".


The program begin with the welcome address given by Dr. Akhandanand Shukla, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur followed by the introduction about Dr. Manorama Tripathi.

In her talk, Dr. Manorama Tripathi, University Librarian, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central Library, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi explained various types of misconduct in research and academics and explained the UGC Guidelines for Ph.D. scholars. She discussed the reasons and possible consequences of unethical practices such as falsification and fabrication of data, ghost authorship, plagiarism and publishing in predatory journals etc. She emphasized the need for honesty and integrity in research. The trends in academic publishing and the importance of researcher identities like ORCID id were also discussed. Questions raised by the participants were answered in detail by the speaker.

The lecture series was coordinated by Dr. V. K. Dhanyasree, Assistant Professor and conducted by the Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur and attended by 35 members including faculties, research scholars, and MLIS students. The lecture series ended with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. V. K. Dhanyasree. The program report was prepared by Mr. H. Fakrudhin Ali Ahamed, Research Scholar of the Department.
