Commencement of UGC-NET/JRF Coaching at DLIS, CUTN

Dear All,

This is to inform you that Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur has planned to commence UGC-NET/JRF coaching from 1st March, 2021 for the students of MLIS, M. Phil. & PhD. The UGC-NET/JRF coaching will be conducted 5 days in a week starting from Monday to Friday. The coaching will be run by UGC-JRF cleared PhD Scholars of the Department under the supervision of Dr. V. K. Dhanyasree, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the program. All the interested students and alumni are requested to register for the program.

Building Competence in Research: A Literature Based Approach

Dear All,

This is to inform you that Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu has organised a special online lecture series Anveshan: Online Lecture Series in LIS for Research Scholars. The first online lecture in the series was commenced on 25th February, 2021 (Thursday) at 2:00 PM through Google Meet. Prof. Jaideep Sharma from Department of Library and Information Science, IGNOU, New Delhi has been invited as resource person and he delivered the talk on "Building Competence in Research: A Literature Based Approach".

The program begin with the welcome address given by Dr. Akhandanand Shukla, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur followed by the introduction about Prof. Jaideep Sharma. 

Prof. Jaideep Sharma elaborated definition and characteristics of research, highlighted the purpose of doing research and how to select a relevant topic for research etc. He also explained the significance of Information Literacy for conducting research and suggested to contribute quality research. In the last, he answered the questions asked by the scholars and students.

The lecture series was coordinated by Dr. V. K. Dhanyasree, Assistant Professor and conducted by the Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur and attended by more than 26 members including faculties, research scholars, and MLIS students. The lecture series ended with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. V. K. Dhanyasree. The program report was prepared by Mr. Abhijith B, Junior Research Fellow of the Department.

Initiation of Online Lecture Series

Dear All,

This is to inform you all that Department of Library and Information Science, CUTN has initiated the Online Lecture Series in LIS for the students of MLIS, Research Scholars and Alumni members of the Department. The program will be conducted during tutorial hours on Friday using online platform. The resource persons from different locations and from different backgrounds of the LIS field will be called to interact with you. The first program will be conducted on 5th February, 2021. Besides this, Department has also initiated a separate Online Lecture Series for Research Scholars of the Department for enhancing knowledge and skills of the research scholars. Dr. Anila Sulochana, Assistant Professor of the Department has been appointed as Coordinator for Online Lecture Series in LIS and Dr. V. K. Dhanyasree, Assistant Professor of Department has been appointed as Coordinator for Online Lecture Series for Research Scholars.
