Job Achievement by Mr. Saba Shreeram P.

We are delighted to inform you that Mr. Saba Shreeram P., a graduate of the MLIS program (2021-2023 batch) and an alumnus of the Department of Library & Information Science at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, has been appointed as a Librarian Grade-II under the Department of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Port Blair. He is currently working as a Library Assistant at the Madras School of Economics, Chennai.

National Webinar on "Research Ethics and Academic Publishing"

Dear All, 

This is to inform you that the Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur in association with Balani Infotech Pvt. Ltd. Noida organized a National Webinar on "Research Ethics and Academic Publishing" on 27th November 2024 (Wednesday) at 3:30 PM through Google Meet. Dr. Nikita Wanjari, Relationship Manager and Science Communicator, Academic and Corporate, Balani Infotech Pvt. Ltd., was invited as the speaker and delivered a lecture on "Research Ethics and Academic Publishing."

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Akhandanand Shukla, Program Coordinator and Associate Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, CUTN, Thiruvarur, followed by a brief introduction of the resource person by Dr. K. G. Sudhier, Assistant Professor, DLIS, CUTN.

Dr. Nikita Wanjari delivered a detailed and engaging presentation, covering various aspects of research ethics, academic publishing, and associated tools. She started her talk by explaining concepts such as h-index, impact factor, open access, and Creative Commons (CC) licenses, and provided practical advice on identifying authentic journals and avoiding cloned or predatory journals. She further discussed the writing process for creating an impactful abstract, the peer review process, and introduced AI tools, emphasizing their potential to save time and streamline the research flow. Dr. Wanjari also elaborated on specialized tools and software like Sciflow, ImageTwin.ai, and Lanquill. She highlighted major publishers in different disciplines (ACS, APA, AAAS, Project MUSE, World Library) and their contributions. Additionally, a discussion on popular plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin and Drillbit, with particular attention to their applicability for regional languages, was included in the session.

The webinar featured a lively Q&A session, where participants raised pertinent questions about effective strategies for structuring a research paper and methods to eliminate plagiarism, ensuring originality in academic writing.

The National Webinar was attended by more than 500 registered participants from across the country. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the Program Coordinator, Dr. Akhandanand Shukla. Prof. S. Thanuskodi, Head of the Department of Library & Information Science, CUTN, was the Convener of the program. Ms. Bhavya K. P., Senior Research Fellow, served as the rapporteur for the program.

Successful Participation in IASLIC 30th National Seminar by Dr. K. G. Sudhier

Dear All, 

This is to inform you that Dr. K. G. Sudhier, Assistant Professor of the Department, participated in and presented a paper at the 30th IASLIC National Seminar on "Information Literacy for Developing Enlightened Library/Information User Community in the New Age," organized by the Department of Library & Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, during 21-23 November 2024. 

He successfully presented his paper on the topic "Information Needs and Use Patterns of School Children with Disabilities in Kerala: Challenges for Bridging the Gap." In addition to his paper presentation, he also co-chaired a technical session during the National Seminar. 


The department congratulates him on his successful participation and presentation at the 30th IASLIC National Seminar.

Successful PhD Pre-Submission Seminar of Ms. Hasbi Alikunju

Dear All, 

This is to inform you that Ms. Hasbi Alikunju, a Ph.D. scholar (R191905), successfully presented her Ph.D. Pre-Submission Seminar in the Smart Classroom of the Department of Library and Information Science, CUTN, on 14th November 2024, at 11:00 AM. The topic of her research is "An Assessment of Health Information Poverty among the Transgender Community in Kerala." Her research supervisor is Dr. Anila Sulochana. 

The Ph.D. Pre-Submission Seminar was attended by faculty members, research scholars, and students of the department, as well as research scholars and faculty members from other departments. 




The department extends its blessings to her for this academic achievement and congratulates her on the successful presentation of her Ph.D. Pre-Submission Seminar.

Job Achievement of Ms. Kumari Champa Varma

Dear All,

We are delighted to inform you that Ms. Kumari Champa Varma, a graduate of the MLIS program (2021-2023 batch) and an alumnus of the Department of Library & Information Science at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, has been appointed as a Trainee-Global Library under the Global Library Training Programme (GLTP) at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, from 6th January 2025 to 31st March 2027. She has previously worked as a Library Professional Trainee at IIT Gandhinagar.
