Celebrating Open Access Week 2024@DLIS CUTN

Dear All, 

This is to inform you that the Department of Library & Information Science at Central University of Tamil Nadu is organizing a seminar to celebrate International Open Access Week 2024. Dr. Thiagarajan P., Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at CUTN, will be invited as the speaker to deliver a talk on "Open-Source Software and Community Development" on October 29, 2024, at 2:30 PM in the Smart Classroom of the Department of Library & Information Science, CUTN.

All are invited to attend the program and enhance their knowledge about open-source software and its role in community development.

One-Day Awareness Program on Research Data Management

Dear All,

This is to inform you that the Department of Library & Information Science at Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, is organizing a one-day awareness program on Research Data Management in collaboration with INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on November 25, 2024. The program is sponsored by DataCite-GAF.

Major Topics

The program will cover major topics such as: Research Data Management, Data Management Plans (DMP) and General Practices for Researchers, Metadata and Policy Framework, DataCite and the Role of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs), and the National Research Data Repository.

Target Audience

The program is intended for researchers, data managers, librarians, funding agencies, and other stakeholders involved in research data management.

Program Date and Duration

November 25, 2024@10:00 AM onwards. The duration of the program is one day in offline mode.

Registration Fee

There is no registration fee to attend the program.

Registration

Applications for registration should be submitted online on or before November 19, 2024. Each participant must submit a nomination letter from the head of their department, institute, or research guide while registering online.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation or transportation facility provided by the host institution or program organizers.

Prof. S. Thanuskodi assumes charge as Head

Dear All, 

I am pleased to inform you that Prof. S. Thanuskodi has taken charge as the Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, on October 17, 2024 (forenoon). Dr. Taddi Murali has officially handed over the responsibilities of Head, DLIS CUTN, to Prof. S. Thanuskodi. Prof. Thanuskodi has been serving as a Professor in the department since September 2024.

The department extends its congratulations and best wishes to him for a successful tenure.

Dr. S. Ravikumar joined as Associate Professor

Dear All, 

We would like to inform you that Dr. S. Ravikumar has joined the Department of Library & Information Science at CUTN as an Associate Professor on 15th October 2024. Prior to this appointment, he served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. Dr. S. Ravikumar brings extensive experience in the field. 

The Department warmly welcomes him to his new role as an Associate Professor.

Job Achievement of Mr. Yogendra Malviya

Dear All, 

We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Yogendra Malviya, a graduate of the MLIS program (2022-2024) and an alumnus of the Department of Library & Information Science at Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, has been appointed as a Library Trainee at the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirapalli (IIM Trichy).

The Department extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Yogendra Malviya on this accomplishment and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.

Mariam Bhanu M.A. as Speaker in IFLA-ENSULIB Seminar

Dear All, 

We would like to inform you that Ms. Mariam Bhanu M. A., Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Library and Information Science at CUTN, was invited as one of the speakers at the IFLA-ENSULIB Seminar on "Libraries Driving Education for Sustainable Development," a book soft launch event of IFLA where she contributed a chapter. The event took place online on September 28, 2024. She presented her seminar on "How Public Libraries Support the Goals of UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development?" during the "Research and Effective Practices Seminar." Celebration of Pustak Puja 2024

Dr. Akhandanand Shukla Invited as Theme Speaker@PLANNER 2024

Dear All, 

I am pleased to inform you that Dr. Akhandanand Shukla, Associate Professor in our department, was invited as a Theme Speaker at the 12th PLANNER 2024 held at Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He delivered a talk on "Empowering Indigenous Communities: The Role of Libraries in Sustaining Cultural Practices" on September 21, 2024. The program was jointly organized by the INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, and Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar.
